"Montana have commissioned the services of Microclimate New Zealand on
several occasions. We have found them to be very professional and
approachable. The reports they provide are informative and a tremendous
help with our frost protection strategies. With these reports we can
now tailor specific frost protection systems to maximise their
efficiency and protection at each site. Microclimate New Zealand are
now the first step in our frost protection plans." Top

C.J.Pask. Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
"I manage 85 ha of vineyard on Gimblett Rd, Hawkes Bay and after two
severely damaging frosts in three years; we contacted Microclimate NZ
to assist us in trying to take the guesswork out of frost fighting.
This seasons spring (2003) dished up nine frost events. Armed with our
Microclimate NZ frost map we were able to take temperature readings in
known cold spots and direct our helicopter to the coldest parts of the
vineyard, leaving warmer areas that we normally would have flown over.
I am very happy to say that we did not suffer any frost damage this
year. Stuart and his team at Microclimate NZ gave us a very useful tool
to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of our $7000 an hour
helicopter. In the future, we will be installing windmills to assist
with frost fighting and thanks to our Microclimate map; we also now
know where to install them to get the best performance out of them." Top of Page
Allan
Hogg, Independent grower Marlborough
region, New Zealand "Our crop was wiped out
after the spring
frosts of 2002 and we were unsure of our options. Microclimate New
Zealand consolidated these and my findings of their work so far,
including the Micromap™ of our property is that its spot on." Top of Page

De Latour, Vineyard Manager
Villa Maria Estate Limited. Hawkes Bay, New Zealand "I
manage 80ha of vines near Hastings and
was aware of the complexities of frost occurrence onsite. After the
study conducted by Microclimate New Zealand I had a better handle on
frost management over the vineyard and we are confident that wind
machines are the best frost protective measure for the site. We were
also able to maximize their efficiency with correct placement. They
have proved successful through the spring of 2003." Top of Page
Peter Cottier
Cottier Estate. East Taratahi, Wairarapa, New Zealand. "Microclimate
took the guesswork out of
frost protection for our vineyard! We are delighted with the advice and
scientific analysis provided by Stu and his team. Based on
Microclimate's recommendations, we purchased and positioned two wind
machines in the vineyard. After seven spring frost events this season,
we suffered only very minimal frosting in one location we knew wouldn't
receive optimal results from the wind machines. We would thoroughly
commend Microclimate's scientific approach to analysing
and plotting local climate conditions." |
